The Burgess Marathon - 23/06/24

I wanted to let you know about my BIG running challenge for 2024 and importantly how you can help me. 

What is the Burgess Marathon?

It’s a great question - The Burgess Marathon is running the Burgess parkrun 5k course 8.5 times. This will be 42.5k which is the official distance for a marathon. 

When and where and how is this going to happen?

More good questions - I’ve selected Saturday 28th September 2024. It’s taking place at Burgess Park. It will start at the Burgess parkrun start-line. I’m aiming to start at approximately 0500. The intention is to reach the start line for the official Burgess parkrun at 0900 to run the final 5k. 

Why am I doing this?

I’m glad you asked - I’m raising money for the charity Become. Become provide advice and support to children in care and care-experienced young people, who are some of the most vulnerable people in our society. You can read about their work HERE

How you can help me?

There are lots of ways you can help me, these include;

1. Run 1 or multiple laps of the 5k Burgess parkrun course with me on the day

2. Run or walk the final 5k of the marathon with me on the day

4. Share my fundraising link with your networks about the Burgess Marathon and help me smash the fundraising target

There’s lot to come but for now I need to go and do my Sunday Long Run.
